Ash is very different from ordinary dust that usually can be seen from our house or buildings. It is sharp, crystalline structures that tend to scratch surfaces when we try to remove them by wiping or brushing.

Which is why we need to take proper precautions when we need to remove them.

First and foremost, when we will do cleaning the ashes, we need to wear dust masks, goggles or corrected eyeglasses to refrain ourselves from any harmful effects in our body.

What to do when cleaning ashes outside?

When we do outside cleaning, we need to moisten the ash with a sprinkler to prevent it from remobilizing by the wind. Shoveling them instead of sweeping is ideal or if there are no shovels around, we can use stiff brooms for lesser amounts and when we gather the ashes, we need to keep it in a heavy-duty plastic bags.

Be cautious when we climb ladders and roofs because volcanic ash is slippery.

Do not dump the ashes in gardens or the roadside and the damped ash in yards and streets to reduce the suspension of ash but always remember to not soak the ashes, sprinkle the ashes with a little amount of water.

Always know that when we enter the house, we need to remove the outdoor clothing before entering your house or building.

What to do when cleaning ashes inside the house or building?

Even if you're inside the house, wear a mask or wet cloth when cleaning. It is important to stay safe and refrain from the harmful effects of volcanic ash.

Ensure that the house or building has good ventilation, open the doors and windows is necessary when cleaning.

When collecting ashes and sending them outside, use only one entrance to avoid the ashes to spread around even further. Also, use water and effective detergent or wetting agent when you need to do vacuuming also, damp rag techniques are ideal when cleaning.

When you need to wipe down ashes from your furniture and appliances, use a soaked cloth or sponge. Also, you need to rinse the fabric or sponge with running water or need to be taken outside and beaten.

When removing the moisten thick ash deposits on hard floors, place it in bags.

Floor sweepers with side brushes may not be ideal since it might re-entrain dust particles into the air.

Consider changing your filters (air conditioner and furnace) several months after ashfall. Also, consider cleaning the surface since it may blow and recirculate ash.

Just in: Taal Volcano erupted and it resulted from heavy ash fall in nearby locations. While people who are close to the area are trembling with fear for their safety, others in nearby areas are experiencing the effect of the erruption, hence, ash fall.

People are sending prayers and advises to stay safe while there's an uncontrollable phenomenon but apart from this, we must know what to do when this occur.

What to do when there's an ash fall?
  1. Prepare these essential items
    - Dusk masks & Eye protection
    - Ample water supply for drinking that can last up to 72 hours
    - Non-Perishable goods that can cater your needs up to 72 hours
    - Battery operated radio and flashlights
    - Cellphones and powerbanks
    - Extra blankets, warm clothing and underwears
    - Important documents
    - First aid kit (must consist of medication for common diseases like fever, cough, flus and such)
    - Cash because ATM machines may not be operating
  2. Stay indoors
    - Close the doors and windows to stop the ash from entering the buildings or home
    - Do not use airconditioner
    - Listen to the radio or watch the news for important announcement
    - Charge all your phones and powerbanks

  3. But if you're outside, here's what to do
    - Seek for a shelter immediately
    - Use a mask, cloth or handkerchief to cover your mouth and nose
    - If there's an announcement made before the ash fall, go home immediately
    - If you're driving, drive slowly. The ash fall can reduce visibility.
    - If you're inside the car, do not use the car's ventilation system as the ashes on the road surface can seep through the car ventilation.
    - If your kids are at school, do not rush over to get your kids. The school knows how to properly handle emergency situations like this. What you do is contact the school and make sure everything is under control before rushing and fetch the kids at school. Be calm so you can prioritize thinking clearly

  4. Do not wear contact lenses
    - Ashes can result in corneal abrasions which is why wearing eyeglasses is essential since ashes can be easily wiped off and won't go direct in your eyes.
  5. Always listen to the radio and keep in touch
    - This is the best way for you to know the up-to-date information about what's going on and to know if you need to do certain actions whether you need to evacuate or such.
Be safe, everyone! Stay indoors.

Have you ever wondered how much restaurant owners earn? It has something to do on how they cut costs with limitations. Every owner has different ways to cut back and if you’re thinking of starting a food business here are few major ways on cost cutting.

WISE INVENTORY

You should know how much the items on your menu will cost. First, you have to lower your inventory levels by evaluating your inventory byproducts, and by reducing excess inventory. In that way, you will have less waste and spoiled products.

Make a daily inventory. It is the basic yet most effective way to control which product you should have a stock in bulk, depending on which food on the menu sells best.

Make sure to maximize the use of each product. Reusing an ingredient won’t be a big deal to the customers. By maximizing the use of each product you will have to buy less and stock less. This will be good for you as you will be ordering and stocking in bulk. Buying or ordering a large portion/amount of products will give you a big discount, which is a great way to save on your expenses.

AUDITING

As stated on Parkinson’s Law, “Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.”, when an individual is given less time to do something, he will work fast to get things  done. It is important to prepare a scheduled labor based on the number of employees, customers and sales. Sometimes you will have to adjust your employees work hours to meet the work load and the desired sales.

Make sure you have the manager(s) a list of scheduled employees on hand. Shift cards is a handy tool for every employee, it serves as a tool for making important notes that will be logged in the manager’s logbook.

It is a wise move to maintain at least half (or less) of your staff as part-timers. You will need part-time employees to maximize the manpower during peak season. But of course you will have to rely on their schedules and organize it right.

FINANCIAL CHECK UP

You have to take care of your business’ financial status, we all know that. Do not allow yourself to ignore financial shortage, even a single penny counts. Do not forget to focus on your highest gross profit menu items, disregard the cost of it. Higher food cost most of the time results to more profits.

Buy only what you need. Buy items that are written and needed on your menu. This will result to less waste and spoilage, and will it will also help you save money.

Remember to use a proper cash checkout form as it will be easier for you to calculate cash over/short with each checkout. Yes, you have to do a lot of calculation here, but at the end of the day all of it will definitely be beneficial and worth it.

Always report and calculate your sales and labor costs every week to be aware if there are issues that needs attention and needs to be fixed.

You might find it helpful to use these steps as a list to spot potential problems in your business. It is important to remember the positive effect that the successful application of these reminders may result to a great achievement of your business.
Do you remember SB19's first major concert that broke a record? Tickets were sold out in just three minutes. That was a great start for the crew because right after that concert SB19 realized they are ready to dominate the local and international music market with the their latest single, “Alab.”

If you're a fan and thought that their past releases were straight up lit, wait until you hear “Alab”— a dance-pop banger built on over the top production, digital beats, and pulsating grooves.

Produced by Han Tae Soo, the upbeat track is “basically about finding your true love and doing whatever it takes to win that certain someone.”

“Here, we thought of fire as our burning desire, emphasizing that there’s no other way to confess your love but to tell the person directly, and that you shouldn’t waste time,” lead vocalist and rapper Sejun opens up.

Collaboration with Sony Music Philippines

SB19 with Sony Music's Roslyn Pineda

“Alab” is SB19’s first official single under Sony Music Philippines.

The P-pop boyband has recently expressed their gratitude to the international record label for making the partnership work. “With Sony Music Philippines, they’re a well-known major label worldwide. We feel like we can do so much more and expand to a wider audience,” Sejun says.

Sony Music, on the other hand, is thrilled to have SB19 on board. “We’re looking forward to fueling and supporting many more breakthroughs for Sejun, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin,” says Roslyn Pineda, Sony Music’s GM Philippines & VP Business Development Asia.

A&R and Digital Director Maan Atienza, Roslyn can’t help but feel thoroughly impressed, after receiving a copy of SB19’s dance practice video for “Go Up” from Sony Music Philippines. “I am beyond excited! Filipinos are natural performers and when it comes to training and discipline, nothing beats the Korean way. When you merge the two, you come up with something special — SB19. They’ve taken K-Pop and made it their own. Actually, our own, if you consider SB19’s official fanbase name A’TIN.”

More about SB19

SB19 crew is composed of Sejun (leader, rapper and lead vocalist), Josh (lead rapper and dancer), Stell (vocalist and lead dancer), Ken (main dancer and vocalist), and Justin– (vocalist and visuals).
The fast-rising boyband debuted in 2018 with “Tilaluha,” and soon gained traction with the video release of choreography-heavy “Go Up” in July 2019.

They nabbed the first spot as this year’s most Googled Male Personalities in the Philippines, beating personalities such as Vico Sotto, Isko Moreno and more.

They recently landed on Billboard's Next Big Sound chart—which according to its website, tracks the fastest accelerating artists during the past week.

“Alab” is now available on all music streaming and download platforms worldwide.

Harry Styles “lights up” with groundbreaking new album, Fine Line

Harry Styles’ new album, Fine Line will finally be released on December 13, 2019—just in time for a Friday the 13th release.

Fine Line also has the previously released tracks “Lights Up,” “Watermelon Sugar,” and his latest single “Adore You,” whose cryptic marketing campaign that gave a tremendous buzz for weeks. The second studio release also reunites Styles with producers Jeff Bhasker, Tyler Johnson and Kid Harpoon, who refined the overall sound of his debut album.

A “brazenly honest” record
On Fine Line, the former One Direction star spoke about “constantly dancing in and out of desire and destruction,” as Entertainment Weekly delivered it, and exploring his more bold and honest side in terms of the songwriting process leading to the final touches of his newest album. “For me, it doesn’t mean I’ll sit down and be like, ‘This is what I have for dinner, and this is where I eat every day, and this is what I do before I go to bed,” Styles shares in a recent Rolling Stone interview. “But I will tell you that I can be really pathetic when I’m jealous. Feeling happier than I’ve ever been, sadder than I’ve ever been, feeling sorry for myself, being mad at myself, being petty and pitiful — it feels really different to share that.”

The vulnerability that comes with Styles’ 12-track release earned wonderful reviews from international music critics like NME that praised the record for performing the nostalgic sound of his previous self-titled record and combining it with “soaring pop sensibilities.” British bi-monthly magazine i-D called it “another confident exercise in Harry Styles’ ongoing genre cross-over.” DIY Mag dug deeper into the gripping nature of his songwriting, proclaiming that it is a “compelling document of an artist coming to life.”

Upcoming tours
After the British pop singer's sold out concert in Manila last May 1, 2018 at the Mall of Asia arena, Harry Styles is preparing for his upcoming 2020 world tour, ‘Love On Tour’ to promote the release of Fine Line. Full list of dates and all ticket information/on sale info is available on Harry’s official website. Asia (possibly Manila), Australia and additional tour dates to be announced in 2020.
Harry Styles’ Fine Line will be available from Friday, the 13th of December on iTunes and all other digital platforms worldwide via Sony Music.

The English-language version of “Paprika” is the next viral hit that you need to hear

Get ready to get your groove on! There’s a new dance craze that is taking Japan by storm.

The latest viral sensation, "Paprika" which was intended to excite the global sports community for the upcoming 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo got up to 140 million views on Youtube. Its related NHK videos has surpassed more than 260 million views, making it the most popular current children’s song and creating a Paprika phenomenon all over Japan.

J-Pop star, Kenshi Yonezu produced and wrote this latest earworm that was a huge hit for Foorin, a group of five Japanese singers and dancers composed of Moena and Hyuuga on main vocals, and Takeru, Ririko, and Chise on chorus and dance.

English-language version
While introducing the song to the international market and expand its positive message of friendship from “Japanese children to children of the world,” Yonezu specifically handpicked five native English-speaking children to re-record and perform “Paprika.”

Known as Foorin Team E, the newest pop collective whose members include main vocalists Jasmine (10 years old) and Corban (8years old), and chorus singers and dancers Len (12 years old), Evangeline (12 years old), and Clara (6 years old), debuted the English-language version of “Paprika” with a fun and entertaining music video shot in a single take.

Colorful music video
Similar to Foorin’s “Paprika” video, the alternate version features the enthusiastic members dancing and singing in a field with Mount Fuji as part of the backdrop.

Choreographed by Tomohiko Tsujimoto and Koharu Sugawara, the music video retains the dance routine of the original, except for a few new formations to give the performance a refreshing spin. The broadcast on NHK E-TV “Minna no Uta” started last December 1, 2019, and was serviced on Youtube the same day.

“Paprika” English-language version is now out on all digital platforms worldwide via Sony Music.
All royalties made from this single will be donated to the “Japan Sports Council” in order to be used for the development of the next generation athletes.
